We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have been successful in our bid for funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund!
Salcombe Maritime Museum has been awarded a £34,580 grant to support an exciting new heritage initiative. Called the Dynamic Collections Project, it will focus on making the museum’s collection accessible to all, both online and within the local community. A primary aim of the project is to make a wider range of people aware of, and involved, with Salcombe’s rich maritime heritage.
The grant includes funding for the employment for one year of an Engagement Project Officer who will work with local schools, youth and community groups to create activities for all.
We are so looking forward to this project, which will coincide with the museum’s 50th anniversary in 2024, making it a very special year for the museum.
Stay tuned for updates on the project, including the job advert coming this autumn and for information on other ways to get involved. If your group or organisation would like to participate in the forthcoming outreach activities such as collection handling, storytelling, conservation and heritage workshops sessions, or if you would like to join our team of volunteers, please let us know.
