SIGNALLING ON LAND AND SEA -hands on activities sending top secret messages and breaking codes
For this Half term’s ‘Curious Club’ we will be looking at different ways seafarers send signals to each other at sea and on land, for maritime safety. We’ll be considering how this has changed over time using examples of instances, in our local history, where these have saved lives or prevented disasters.
We’ll start at the museum using models, handling objects and engaging with a talk by our Chairman, Roger Barrett. Then, we’ll be venturing over Cliff House gardens and Salcombe Yacht Club to try out some of these methods, through games. We’ll be working in teams to send each other safety messages, distress signals and break some TOP SECRET codes.
See you there! Numbers are limited, please email events@salcombemuseum.org.uk to reserve your spaces
